A standard porta potty rental in Minnesota costs about $135 to $225 for a weekend event placement and about $175 to $325 for a 28-day rental with weekly service. ADA units run $240 to $450 per 28-day cycle, and a two-station restroom trailer runs $850 to $1,900 for a weekend. Winter placements add $15 to $45 per unit per service for antifreeze.

OSHA Porta Potty Requirements for Minnesota Construction Sites
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c) requires one toilet on a construction site for crews of 20 workers or fewer. For sites with 20 to 200 employees, the standard requires one toilet seat and one urinal per 40 workers. Toilets must be maintained in sanitary condition and within prompt reach of the work area - generally under a ten-minute walk.

How Many Porta Potties Do I Need? Event Sizing Guide
For an event lasting up to four hours, plan at least one portable restroom per 50 guests. Add 15 to 20 percent more units if alcohol is served and 20 to 30 percent more if food is served. At least 5 percent of the units in each cluster must be ADA accessible, with a minimum of one. Plan about one handwashing station per four restrooms.

Minnesota Event Permit Restroom Requirements by City
Minnesota has no statewide portable restroom requirement for events. Requirements are set city by city. Saint Paul is the strictest, requiring restrooms at any permitted event lasting two hours or more with the count set by Parks staff. Application deadlines range from 5 days in Elk River to 90 days for recurrent events in Saint Paul.

Porta Potty Rental in a Minnesota Winter
Yes, an untreated portable toilet will freeze in a Minnesota winter. Preventing it means an antifreeze charge in the holding tank matched to the expected temperature: rock salt works only above 0F, methanol protects to about -9F, magnesium chloride to about -26F, and a methanol-plus-rock-salt blend to about -40F. Expect $15 to $45 per unit per service for winter treatment.
